Ink Grade Road |
Speed blur, actually I'm sure it's more likely just camera shake as I'm going up hill, and probably slowly. |

Route
- Starting at Silverado Trail Road in North Napa, go North
- Travel about 13.5 miles north turn right on the 128 to Lake Hennessey
- Ride around Lake Hennessey taking Chilies and Pope Valley Roads to Pope
Valley
- Go through the town of Pope Valley staying on the main road and going
something between half and one mile past the Pope Valley fire station.
- Turn left onto a very small uphill road called Ink Grade.
- At what appears to be close to the top of the hill turn Right at the cross
roads with White Cottage Road
- At the cross roads with what appears to be a relatively busy main road, go
straight across to Howell Mountain Road
- At the split cross roads/intersection with Silverado turn left going
south. (Going "across" the cross roads takes you across a bridge to St. Helena
- After about 5 miles turn right onto Oakville Cross Road to Oakville
- Turn left on US29 go about 200meters and turn right on to Oakville Grade
- There are two climbs on Oakville Grade, the first is nightmarishly steep,
I was doing 2.5mph standing in first gear. The second is just long. The road
changes name from Oakville Grade Road to Dry Creek Road to Trinity Road.
- The last five miles are super twisty fast downhill, with a 12% grade to
the Intersection of the US12. (I stopped here)
- Glen Ellen is, I think, straight across the US12, or you can turn left on
the US 12 and get into Glen Ellen that way too.
Details
- 64.7 Miles
- 4400 ft climbing
